When I read this poem for the first time, I immediately thought of my own introduction to love stories and happily ever after’s. We all grow up with a set of rules and practices that we learn in order to secure love. The way we love someone else ultimately is the manifestation of how we love oneself. This poem deeply spoke to me. Seeking a lover is really seeking the love that already exists in you.
